Terms of Use

These terms govern your use of NavLog during the beta. By creating an account or using the apps or device, you agree to them.

Draft — NavLog is in private beta. This document is an early draft provided for transparency and is pending formal legal review. It may change before general availability.
NavLog is not a navigation system. It is a logbook and record-keeping tool. It must not be used for navigation, collision avoidance, or any safety-of-life purpose. Always navigate using certified equipment and official charts, and keep a proper watch.

Beta software

NavLog is pre-release software provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind. It may contain bugs, lose or corrupt data, change without notice, or become unavailable. Keep an independent record of any voyage that matters.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding contract to create a NavLog account.

No reliance for navigation or safety

You agree not to rely on NavLog for real-time navigation, positioning, collision avoidance, weather routing, or emergency response. Displayed positions and figures may be delayed, inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable. NavLog does not monitor your vessel and will not summon help on your behalf.

No compliance guarantee

NavLog can help you keep records, but we make no guarantee that any log, export, or report meets the requirements of any regulator, flag state, port authority, insurer, or other body. You are responsible for determining what records you are required to keep and for verifying that your records satisfy those requirements.

Hardware / pilot limitations

The NavLogCore device is a pilot/beta product. Hardware may be loaned or discounted, may behave unpredictably, and depends on your vessel's instruments, power, and connectivity. Data capture can stop without warning — for example if power, Wi-Fi, or a sensor feed is lost. Installation and use of any device on a vessel is at your own risk.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use NavLog for any unlawful purpose or in violation of maritime regulations.
  • Attempt to access accounts, devices, or data that are not yours.
  • Disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or probe the service or its security.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or that is unlawful.
  • Resell or redistribute the service without permission.

Your data & account

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials safe. Your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. You may request export or deletion at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NavLog and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service, including lost data or decisions made in reliance on it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Florida will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute that cannot be resolved informally.

Changes & termination

We may update these terms or the service during the beta and may suspend or end beta access at any time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

NavLog is a voyage logbook and record-keeping tool. It is NOT a navigation system, a collision-avoidance aid, or a safety-of-life device, and it is not monitored for distress or emergency response. Always rely on certified navigation equipment and official sources, and contact the appropriate rescue authority (e.g. the Coast Guard on VHF Channel 16) in an emergency.
